MESSICO
Ricorre quest’ anno il decimo anniversario del proficuo rapporto tra il civico liceo linguistico Manzoni di Milano e l’Instituto de Humanidades y Ciencias di Città del Messico. Veterano di questo scambio culturale è il prof. Luigi Piazzolla, che per la decima volta ha accompagnato un gruppo di 17 studentesse in questa importante esperienza oltre oceano. Il soggiorno è durato 17 giorni, dal 9 al 26 marzo 2010, durante i quali le ragazze hanno avuto modo di conoscere una cultura diversa, una società differente, un modo di vivere e intendere la scuola distinto da quello a loro noto. Le visite ai vari siti archeologici, ai musei Antropologico e di Frida Kahlo, al castello di Chapultepec hanno stimolato il loro interesse storico e culturale. Le visite al santuario della Madonna di Guadalupe e alla Cattedrale hanno consentito di verificare il grande sentimento religioso, di devozione presente in questo popolo. Vivendo in famiglie messicane e frequentando la scuola, quindi a stretto contatto con la realtà che le circondava, hanno avuto modo di entrare in relazione con loro coetanei e con adulti, instaurando legami, fonte di importante arricchimento umano. La conoscenza dell’altra faccia della megalopoli che le ospitava, è stata offerta loro dalle due visite ai piccoli di Villalpando. La scuola materna gestita dalla signora Ramona è una realtà che mette chiaramente in luce i contrasti presenti nella città. Esperienza di forte impatto emotivo, è stata sicuramente la più significativa del soggiorno messicano.

NEW YORK (November 18th- December 4th)
We had been thinking about our trip to New York for months and finally that day came. We were absolutely excited, when we saw that great flag of United States in the airport. It’s probably the first thing we remember about New York. And then all of a sudden we were in another world: a new family, new school and so much to visit and to experience. We found our exchange students there, waiting for us at Curtis High School. We immediately saw Chelsea and Brittany. The following day we were running from a Spanish lesson to the cafeteria with our students. We enjoyed the city, the museums, the great weekend in Washington with the American guys, but personally what we liked the most was the daily life with our family. Our American “moms” ,“dads” and “sisters” were really nice, kind and so willing to share with us their life that we felt immediately at home. We enjoyed thanksgiving vacation with our families (we tasted the turkey!!), we met lots of people and we also travelled to visit and to meet their relatives, who lived far from our families. We were extremely lucky to meet the Sheridans and the Davis. We lived on Staten Island, a quiet borough of New York, in independent and small houses with gardens: it was exactly like in a movie. The city is extraordinary during the day, but in the night it’s far greater. When you see for the first time Times Square with a dark sky and its lit skyscrapers you can really say :” Well, I’m in New York City”. We think that thanks to this opportunity we realized a dream. We spent fifteen wonderful days and we met people who will be forever in our hearts.
